This photograph was inspired by my good friend Carrie Ferguson Weir.

She told me a story about a little boy who told her that his world ended at the Malecón, the sea wall in Cuba since most of the people can’t travel.

I was in Baracoa, Cuba in June of 2016, and I was out photographing at 5:30 in the morning when I saw this guy sitting on the Malecón. He just sat there gazing into the mist. It reminded me of the story that Carrie told me and it is the title of my Photographic show.

By the way, Baracoa was destroyed by the Hurricane Matthew. Many of the photographs I took there no longer exist. That is what is so special about photographs. They endure.
